Simple Summary

This proposal suggests funding the web3 travel and education project, Man of Crypto, to boost 1inch brand awareness worldwide.

Abstract

Man of Crypto is a unique concept that injects fresh air into the web3 space and opens up web3 to the world. The project involves traveling worldwide, engaging with local web3 communities, showcasing the latest web3 innovations, and uncovering the true state of crypto adoption in each region.

Furthermore, Man of Crypto is a perfect Web3 Сitizen, as he is self-custodial by default. He aims to bring existing Web3 technologies outside of the bubble, such as MusicNFTs, Tickets, Real Estate, and POAP.

Man of Crypto: Vietnam - 16M Crypto users, Growing Economy, Young Population

Motivation

My name is Booga, and I host the Man of Crypto project. I have been involved in the space since 2017 and have contributed to various projects. Currently, I am leading integrations at Zerion. I believe (and hope :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:) that I have a good sense of what is happening in the space.
However, I also recognize that most web3 individuals create tech for other web3 individuals. With Man of Crypto, we intend to change this paradigm. Our objectives are:

  1. Demonstrate the practical application of web3 tech in everyday life.
  2. Reveal the authentic state of crypto adoption worldwide.
  3. Create a fun, engaging platform for learning about crypto and web3 innovations.

Self-funded

Our commitment to this project is evident in our investments. We’ve invested $20k in equipment and financing for the pilot “Expedition."

Feedback

We launched our pilot episode recently and received around 35 private feedbacks. The majority recognized our unique format and the surprisingly high production quality for a two-person team.

Specification

We seek funding for the inaugural season of Man of Crypto.
Scope
The first season spans five countries from our wishlist: Portugal (in progress), Argentina, India, South Africa, Dubai, South Korea, Japan, France, USA(NYC), China, Germany, Brazil, Australia, SEA, and Turkey.

Each Episode Contains

  1. Engagement with local crypto communities.
  2. Conversations with industry experts.
  3. Street interviews for grassroots perspectives.
  4. Examination of potential web3 use cases implementable during the trip.
  5. Exploration of services purchasable with crypto.
  6. Unique and creative 1inch brand integration into the show, which could also be coordinated with 1inch’s growth team.

We’ve created graffiti featuring the 1inch logo on a Lisbon wall. This could be leveraged by the 1inch team for a growth campaign, including contests or giveaways in each episode.

Time Line

The expected timeline for the season is ten months when we release a full travel episode every two months.
Estimated production cost
Estimated cost: $73k for the Season (6 countries, and big episodes)

ASK

We propose to 1inch DAO to partially fund this initiative and allocate $24k in exchange for unique integration for the next six travel episodes (see example above)

Rationale

We believe that Man of Crypto can significantly influence web3 adoption globally. As Christina said: :down_arrow:

By providing funds to Man of Crypto, the 1Inch DAO would boost its brand recognition and contribute to a unique creation that may become part of web3 history.

Considerations

There are a few potential challenges that Man of Crypto may face.

One challenge is that web3 is still a relatively new and emerging space. This means that there is still a lot of education that needs to be done in order to raise awareness of web3.

Another challenge is that the web3 space is constantly evolving. This means that we will need to be agile and adaptable in order to keep up with the latest trends.

Despite these challenges, we are confident that Man of Crypto has the potential to be a successful project.

We have a strong team with a proven track record and are passionate about web3. We believe that Man of Crypto can positively impact the web3 community, and we are excited to bring this project to life.

Hey guys! Thank you, everyone, for your questions and comments. We are going to move the proposal further and looking forward to your support.

Before we proceed with this, I would like to highlight that this is a win-win opportunity for 1inch to increase recognition worldwide and that the collaboration proposal contains 10 monthly plans with the goal of exploring 6 countries.

Funding Man of Crypot initiatives locks integrations for 1inch branding the 6 travel episodes.

The video series is something that may be missing from the crypto world. I would like to see this happen, and have some remarks I’m adding them here:

I’d like more clarification on the focus of narrative of the content you’re creating. What exactly are you focused on achieving in relation with crypto in these videos? Are you trying to onboard users? Are you trying to teach people about crypto? Is this an experiment to see how many people you can onboard to 1inch in a day? Or perhaps, you are trying to gauge newbie’s reaction to owning crypto for the first time.

There are some research questions that are interesting to explore in each country that you travel to:

-What draws people to crypto? What are the motivations for using crypto?
-Ask people: What comes to mind when you think of crypto? What are the concerns when you hear about crypto?
-What are people building in Web3? (hidden gems)
-Where are the crypto people at? Where do they hang out
-Record the process of how difficult /easy it is to onboard someone to crypto
-Go on a mission to try to convert crypto to fiat to show how much progress has been made, or how much work is still required

As an example, the video of your travels in Vietnam is 48 minutes. I would not be able to sit through one full video because of the length. You could reduce filming time by increasing the intensity and focus of the scenes with editing, so that the progression of the content is continuous and the plot is always moving forward.

And another thing to implement is act as a narrator and provide more prompting of what the scene is focused on (not just describing who, what, where). “We are going to find out if this shop keeper has ever heard of crypto, and see if she is interested in giving it try” just as a basic example.

Translation subtitles would add more context when other languages besides English are used. You would need to hire someone to do this (chat gpt?)

I would suggest watching the format of other well-known reality/ docu series or studying film concepts, just to give more structure to the videos, because I do think there is potential to create something quite engaging for the community!

I enjoyed watching your experiences at the beach seafood market because they’re authentic and in the moment reactions. I think you can strike a good blend of travel fun + a clearer focus on what these crypto vlogs accomplish! I do agree with Jengajojo that we can work together as part of the community builders program. Feel free to reach out if you are interested.

Hi @Wisty ! Thank you for your interest and so detailed comments! Let me try to respond to all of them :slight_smile:

In terms of what we try to achieve. Its a mix of everything by traveling in a particular county, we have a list of goals that we want to achieve

  1. Explore the reality of crypto adoption, basically to respond to the questions you mentioned above. Why people use crypto, how, and which use cases.
  2. We want to do showcases of existing web3 technology in real life
  3. Also, we want to teach and onboard people into the space
  4. And we want to use crypto to influence positive changes in the countries that we film

Ideally, we want to do all those things. Ofcourse the pilot episode didn’t contain all of them, so we keep experimenting with the right format to make it easy to watch, fun, and informative.

Regarding the length of the video, we got a lot of feedback that it should be shorter, so all new episodes will be shorter. Probably around 25 min, and we think about the interactive part for each episode as well.

Subtitles - will be added for sure.

Regarding the format. We keep experimenting and adding something new for each episode. For example, different activities, length, having a co-host, having real challenges, and so on. Pretty sure that by the mid-end of the first season, we will know our own format. It would be awesome if you guys kept helping us with feedback on how to do things better and better.

Regarding the community builders program. Do you think we can fit with the current request, or do you see another way how we can collaborate?

As you can see, most of the cost is travel expenses: flights, transportation, accommodations etc.

Thank you for providing the budget. In a 25 minute episode, you may want to select a few topics from your list to address.

Is the 14 day travel itinerary covering all the countries listed in the sheet? I’d also suggest filming several episodes in one region at a time, instead of paying for longer int’l flights to cross continents, which drastically reduces your overhead. You can present a more doable budget this way.

Can you produce another video with the improvements we have discussed? We would fund it one project at a time, budget TBA.
